Getting around
Last updated: Checked by: فريق التحرير (من مصدر منشور)
Between and within cities: buses, taxis, cars.
Between cities
Intercity coaches ('pullman') link Damascus with Homs, Hama, Aleppo and the coast from the main bus stations. Shared service taxis are a faster option.
In cities
- Taxi: available in the big cities. Agree the fare first if there's no meter.
- Service (servees): fixed-route minibuses, cheap and crowded.
- Walking: the best way to see old Damascus and Aleppo.
Old Damascus
Cars can't enter most of its lanes. Ask your hotel for the nearest drop-off point.
Private car
Many visitors hire a car with a driver for day trips such as Krak des Chevaliers or Bosra.
We don't assess road safety. Check the latest official announcements before travelling between provinces.
