Visa & entry
Visa types, who needs one, required documents.
Syrians enter with a document proving citizenship.
Jordan, Lebanon, Malaysia and Mauritania are exempt from entry fees under Decision No. 128 of the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in force since 6 July 2025. Lebanese citizens face extra entry conditions applied by airlines.
Most other nationalities pay a visa fee on arrival at the airport or land crossing. The fee depends on nationality, length of stay and number of entries, and is paid in US dollar cash. Cards are not accepted.
E-visa: the official evisa.sy site currently shows 'Coming soon' and does not accept applications. There is no working online route right now.
Some nationalities need prior approval before travelling. Check with your airline or the nearest Syrian embassy before booking.
Before you go
- Check your passport validity.
- Carry the visa fee in clean, recent US dollar notes.
- Ask your airline about any rule specific to your nationality.
We are an independent guide, not an official body. Rules change; check before you travel.
